The importance of archeological data in paleometallurgy : the rubéfaction rings round the vats of iron and steel low furnaces Summary. From a study or the rubéfaction rings so deeply indented into the walls of reduction low furnaces recovered on archeological sites, it seems as if those rings were the markers of a certain number of characteristics of the ventilation system then in use.
