Diane, Hercule et les Convenae

En 1961 four mutilated altars were discovered at Öhringen (Vicus Aurelius), on the limes of Upper Germany. Two were dedicated to Diana and Hercules in honour of the divine house. Both were dated December 13th 232 and had been erected by the collegium convenarum, a totally unknown collegium. This collegium may have included soldiers from Lugdunum Convenarum (Aquitania) or men of various origins : civilians and soldiers, young people and veterans, inhabitants of the two Öhringern castella. In 232, barbarian onslaught was threatening along the limes', the threat justified the call to Hercules, the legendary ancestor of Alexander of Macedonia from whom Severus Alexander claimed to be descended. The erection of the two altars can therefore be ascribed to the general context of renewed religiosity and loyalty to the Prince.En 1961, on découvrit à Öhringen (Vicus Aurelius), sur le limes de Germanie Supérieure, quatre autels mutilés dont deux consacrés à Diane et à Hercule, en l'honneur de la maison divine. Tous deux datés du 13 décembre 232, furent élevés par le collegium convenarum, collège totalement inconnu. Ce collège réunissait peut-être des soldats originaires de Lugdunum Convenarum (Aquitaine) ou des hommes de diverses origines : civils et militaires, jeunes et vétérans, habitants des deux Castella d'Öhringen. En 232, le danger barbare menace le limes, il justifie l'appel à Hercule, ancêtre légendaire d'Alexandre de Macédoine dont Sévère-Alexandre se réclamait.
