Reveal and remove. Uses of the body and its ornaments in Mursiland Body ornamentation in Southern Ethiopia attracts many tourists and reporters in search of primitive, exotic peoples. With a few exceptions, anthropological research has not considered body ornamentation as a cultural practice. This article aims to shed light on somes of these practices among the Mursi, a pastoral population of several thousand living in the Omo valley in southern Ethiopia. Ephemeral bodily adornments regulate interactions through successive layers of personal involvement.
