Refugee Congolese and Burundians in Addis Ababa : Inhabitants almost like Anyone Else ; Ethiopia as a land of asylum is still little known. Officially welcoming around 150,000 people with refugee status, it represents yet one of the largest asylum countries of the Horn of Africa. Among these hundreds of thousands, are a tiny minority of Congolese and Burundians. Although the policies adopted by the “refugee institutions” urge them to stay in Sherkole refugee camp, a vast majority of them reside in Addis-Ababa. In this article, I wish to analyse, through an anthropological approach, their insertion in the Ethiopian capital.
