L'habitat grec et les fouilles de Thasos

The excavation of a small group of houses situated behind the Silenus Gate, at Thasos, induced Y. Grandjean to a remarkable monograph on greek urban archaeology and history : the very accurate study of a few houses, which are constantly developing between 500 and 250 B. C, and the rather scarse information given by the numerous diggings made on the site since 1911 enable the author not only to determine the patterns and the building ways of the thasian domestic architecture, but also to restitute the outlines of a local urbanism which doesn't seem to derive from the hippodamean system.La fouille du quartier situé derrière la Porte du Silène, à Thasos, a fourni à Y. Grandjean le point de départ d'une monographie d'archéologie et d'histoire urbaine : l'étude minutieuse de ces maisons, qui ne cessent de se transformer entre 500 et 250 av. J.-C, complétée par les données éparses fournies par les fouilles depuis 1911, révèle les procédés de construction de l'habitat thasien et suggère les modalités d'un urbanisme local apparemment peu influencé par l'abstraction hippodamienne.Holtzmann Bernard.
