The substantial differences intercurring between the persian and the greek coinage are fully reflected in the greek lexicon, which defines the former argyrion eudokimon, i. e. true value currency, and the latter argyrion dokimon, i. e. legal currency. This is the result of the two different social structures, the persian and the greek one, with the implied different role played by money inside the two communities, a status of human relations and economic exchange which is embodied in the greek elaboration of the concept of wealth.
