The brooch found out of context in 1914 after the upsetting of Merovingian graves and published in 1984, deserves to be more thoroughly surveyed because of its ornamental features : partitioned fusiform cases, filigreed anchor patterns and above all two intertwined squares in a eight points stellar shape. Only one Niederbreisig ( ?) fibula displays this latter motif. Intertwined squares constitute a decorative element inherited from Antiquity which remained popular in Byzantine art.
