This paper is a contribution to the history of the Church of Ireland before and after Gladstone's disestablishment. It describes its role in the life of the nation and the adaptation of its structures and missions in a time of rapid change, North and South of the border. The Church of Ireland has ceased to be the Unionist party in prayer. Because of the dwindling size of its community, it sees itself as a champion of the right of minorities, a ferment of progress in religious matters like the much debated question of the ordination of women and in the search for an adequate solution to social and political major problems like the building of peace and reconciliation in Northern Ireland.Cet article s'attache à cerner l'histoire de la Church ...
