Though well-known for his role in the Uprising of 1916, Patrick H. Pearse was much more than a revolutionary. His vision of a new Gaelic Ireland inspired him to write and spread his message through his editorials in An Claidheamh Solais, through his poems, political writings and even his short-stories. In this article we see his life and work briefly sketched out. But through the gentleness and idealism of the main characters depicted in the short story Iosagân (Emmanuel) we glimpse the very soul of the artist Patrick H. Pearse. His message is full of hope.
