The study of animal remains and footprints in archaeological sites constitutes the field of archaeozoolical research. Although the first archaeozoological analyses go back to the previous century, the name of the branch is still open to debate. Archaeozoology does not only provide general date about paleoecology and paleoeconomy, but contributes also to our understanding of the sites' genesis, seasonal occupation and datation, of rituals, and exchanges with other regions, of animal domestication, etc. This article focuses on two major problems : an often faulty sampling and the large amount of quantification methods resorted to.
