A gold ring recently uncovered in Belgium presents the characteristics of a sealing ring which may be attributed to Clovis II (639-657). This 24 cts fine gold jewel weighs 7.4 g. The ring, 1.7 to 1.8 cm in inside diameter, is fitted with two settings, one circular and mobile, the other fixed. The body is moulded into two pairs of animal heads. The fixed setting, slightly protruding, carries an inscription as well as its two side faces. The mobile setting is ornamented on its recto with a bust accompanied with letters in front of the head and a cross at the back of it ; a monogram is engraved on its verso. Clovis II had been buried in Saint-Denis.Une bague en or apparue récemment en Belgique présente des caractéristiques d'un anneau sigillai...
