A small sample of flint industry and pottery characterizes the Early Neolithic occupation of "Les Sables de Mareuil" in Ligueil (Indre-et- Loire - France). Ceramics show rotating printed decor, with orthogonal motif, mainly made with a wide comb, but also with a shell, and orthogonal or shield smooth cordons. This assemblage looks like closely those from Bellefonds, "Les Pichelots" and "Les Alleuds", which are located between the most western Villeneuve- Saint-Germain sites and the Atlantic Cardial ones. To choose between these two cultures to classify Ligueil' s assemblage requires discussing about the extension of the Villeneuve-Saint-Germain up to western France versus the decisive role of the "Impressa" groups in the beginning of the ea...
