The five studied cemeteries, which can be dated between the second quarter of the Ist and the mid IIInd centuries A.D., have been discovered East and North-East of Lyon. Their location and chronological context have been compared to the neighbouring settlements, as well as their individual rural characteristics versus urban cemeteries. Their situation, close to an abandoned settlement, suggests a type of ancestral bonds through the area itself. A family group would habe continued through generations, overpassing the occupation of the settlement itself, to use one or several traditional funerary areas. Cremation, followed by the burial in a small pit, is the most frequent type of sepulture. Romanised burial evidence is only found in the weal...
