The author opens investigation of the textual relations among manuscripts identified as representing the Sedulius commentary on Donatus' Ars Maior. It is posited that if « omissions » and other features of the older witnesses are not peremptorily dismissed as errors, the way may lie open to a better understanding of the commentary's nature and history. Some suggestions are ventured in this regard.
