The present article gives a synthesis of three models of autonomy in moral philosophy : that of Kant with the construction of moral philosophy on the basis of the concept of autonomy ; the model elaborated by Th. Steinbuchel in Die philosophische Grundlegung der katholischen Sittenlehre (1939) ; and finally the project of autonomous moral philosophy in a Christian context presented by A. Auer. This presentation isfollowed by an investigation into the concept of autonomy itself and on its implications in basic moral philosophy ; this investigation tends to decompartmentalize the field of practical moral philosophy and opens it up to the philosophy of religion and theology.Gaziaux Éric.
