La morphodynamique fluviale, entre la géoarchéologie et la gestion des hydrosystèmes contemporains (Fluvial morphodynamics between geoarcheology and the management of present hydrosystems)

Abstract. - This paper aims at recalling the developments of fluvial morphodynamics in France since 50 years, as well as those of a connected and recent branch, the geoarchaeology of alluvial plains. This speciality experienced a fast growth in France since 20 years and requires, among others, the tools and the concepts of fluvial dynamics, in a perspective broadly open to the questionnings of human sciences. The paper argues for bringing together fluvial geomorphology (theoretical and applied to the management of hydrosystems) and geoarchaeology into a federative project fully ascribable to geography.Résumé. - L'article retrace les développements de la morphodynamique fluviale en France depuis une cinquantaine d'années, ainsi que ceux d'une discipline connexe et plus récente, la géoarchéologie des milieux alluviaux. Cette spécialité a connu un développement rapide en France depuis 20 ans et fait largement appel aux outils et concepts de la dynamique fluviale, dans une perspective très ouverte aux questionnements des sciences humaines. On plaide pour un rapprochement combinant la géomorphologie fluviale, théorique et appliquée à la gestion des hydrosystèmes, et la géoarchéologie, au service d'un projet fédérateur relevant pleinement de la géographie.Bravard Jean-Paul.
