If general effects of the depression of 1973 are well known, we have some difficulties in understanding its exact implications for regional economies and entailed disparities. However, we have statistics of employment and information of the Banque de France on turnover and movements of capital. We have employed this statistical material for a study of the Roanne region. This old industrial region off metropolitan areas is characterized by traditional activities.
