Abstract. — This study is concerned with the highest floods, recorded from 1959 at various scales on the Fecht catchment (Vosges mountains). Firstly, the author presents two simple methods for estimating snowmelt : the one is founded on the degree-day method (with a melt factor of 4 mm/day/°C), the other allows an estimation of the water balance of the snow cover during flood time. It is also possible to value at basin scale the solid précipitation ratio from daily températures and thermal gradients. The snowmelt of each flood is computed by these relations.
