La notion de personne chez Emmanuel Mounier. Approche apophatique et mystique

E. Mounier made use of an apophatic approach, in his conception of the notion of human personhood. If man was made in the image of the Triune God, then in speaking of the human person (just as for the Divine) it is easier to say that which it is not, than that which it is. Thus a person cannot be defined : apophatism is a way of showing that the human being discovers his/her true reality in the mystical union with God, which implies an involvement in the liberation of mankind at the very heart of history. The three « ways » of apophatism, purification, illumination, union, can be found in the work of Mounier, in what he calls « personalist and community revolution ».E. Mounier a réfléchi sur la notion de personne humaine en s'inspirant de la démarche apophatique. Si l'homme est à l'image de Dieu Tri-Personnel, alors, de la personne humaine (comme Dieu), il est plus aisé de dire ce qu'elle n'est pas que ce qu'elle est. La personne ne peut donc pas être définie : l'apophatisme est une voie d'approche pour manifester que l'être humain découvre sa véritable réalité dans l'union mystique avec Dieu, ce qui implique un engagement au service de la libération des hommes au cœur de l'histoire. Les trois voies de l'apophatisme, purification, illumination, union, peuvent être retrouvées dans les œuvres de Mounier, à travers ce qu'il appelle « Révolution personnaliste et communautaire ».Bely Marie-Etiennette.
