The archaeological investigations of the french mission that have been carried out since 1980 at the ceremonial site of Coamiles, state of Nayarit, western Mexico, deal with the relationship between the western cultures and the «mesoamerican» ones. The present paper describes a first part of the chronological study ; a set of ceramic samples collected at two borings («wells» 1 and 13) during the excavations has been dated using thermoluminescence. Various methods were used for the natural radioactivity determination : plasma emission spectrometry (ICP), low background gamma spectrometry and on site gammametry and TL gamma dosimetry.
