Russians from the "near abroad": The theme of the diaspora and its lobbies in Russia The place of Russians from the "near abroad" in Russian Federation politics is examined by studying the evolution of the theme of the "diaspora" since 1990 and the means used by lobbies for defending Russians. Since the second half of the 1990s, political authorities have addressed this issue. The implementation of the Repatriation Program in 2006-2007 provides evidence that the compatriots' issue in the near abroad has become part of the Russian state's new strategy to recover power. The theme of the diaspora is slowly being normalized as it leaves the field of radical nationalism to become the subject of a pragmatic approach.La place du thème des Russes...
