The argumentative texts produced by apprentices can be qualified as incoherent in so far as they do not correspond to teachers' expectations. The difficulties of training centre pupils are not due to purely linguistic problems, since the written documents result from the interaction of several parameters. The protagonists of that interaction do not have the same status in the particular speech situation which characterizes the discourse of apprentices in school.
