Auguste Laurent is regarded as the founder of organic chemistry ; he published his most inventive papers in the Revue scientifique of Dr Quesneville, between 1840 and 1845. Quesneville was a chemist, Vauquelin's successor, who manufactured chemical and pharmaceutical products ; his review was opened to new ideas of non-conventionalist chemists.
