Activités allemandes et germanophilie au Cameroun (1936-1939)

It was in 1 936 that Germany began officially and loudly to claim the return of its former colony. Nazi propaganda going along with this demand was to a certain extend echoed throughout part of Cameroonians among who the prominent personalities were members of the Native Baptist Church led by Révérend Lotin Samé. The repression of French Administration swooped down on the whole germanophile Cameroonian community. In the meantime, German scholars and notabilities has payed some surveying visits to Cameroon, while their compatriots living in British Cameroon and Spanish Guinea did their Cameroonian workers some paramilitary training. In French Cameroon, a séries of spying activities followed one another, aiming at a future armed take-over of the Reich former colony. But germanophiles found francophiles, mainly young people, facing them as a counterbalance.
