Factors determining the debt service ratio of housing support beneficiaries. In terms of housing, the net debt service ratio of households is defined as being part of their budget that they allocate to housing expenses, after they have taken into account the housing support to which they are entitled. Among the residents in mainland France benefiting from housing support, the net debt service ratio is 17,3 % of the tenant population and 25 % of the future owner population. Therefore, in spite of the 12 billion euros spent on housing support by the Child Benefit Office each year for low-income families in mainland France, the housing expense remains a significant outlay.
