Un village castral de la plaine lauragaise : Lasbordes (Aude)

Following a rescue excavation in Lasbordes church, architectural and topographie observations together with information from the archives have made it possible to retrace the history of this Lauragais village, which once belonged to the Toulouse county. The surrounding landscape, which was ruled during the early Middle Ages by small contry churches, was subsequently to restructure itself around Lasbordes castle. There is still some uncertainty as to the origin of the site and that of the church, but towards the end of the XIIth century, the urban centre became a castrum, that is a fortified village, typical in the Languedoc during the lower Middle Ages. Housing was organized around the castle in a circular pattern, as is often the case in the region. The church was rebuilt and enlarged at the end of the XlIIth century and became the parish centre of the Lasbordes locality. Finally, a good représentation of the village and of its components can be reconstituted for the end of the XVIth century.A la suite d'une fouille de sauvetage dans l'église de Lasbordes, les observations architecturales et topographiques ainsi que les renseignements recueillis dans les archives ont permis de retracer l'histoire de ce village du Lauragais, autrefois dans le comté de Toulouse. Le paysage environnant, qui est dominé pendant le haut Moyen Age par les petites églises rurales, va ensuite se restructurer autour du château de Lasbordes. Une part d'incertitude demeure sur les origines du site et de l'église, mais vers la fin du XIIe siècle, l'agglomération devient un castrum, village fortifié caractéristique dans le Languedoc du bas Moyen Age. L'habitat est organisé autour du château sur un plan circulaire, modèle fréquent dans la région. L'église est reconstruite et agrandie à la fin du XIIIe siècle et devient le centre paroissial du terroir de Lasbordes. Enfin, une bonne image du village et de ses composantes peut être restituée pour la fin du XVIe siècle.Cazes Jean-Paul. Un village castral de la plaine lauragaise : Lasbordes (Aude).
