Following a rescue excavation in Lasbordes church, architectural and topographie observations together with information from the archives have made it possible to retrace the history of this Lauragais village, which once belonged to the Toulouse county. The surrounding landscape, which was ruled during the early Middle Ages by small contry churches, was subsequently to restructure itself around Lasbordes castle. There is still some uncertainty as to the origin of the site and that of the church, but towards the end of the XIIth century, the urban centre became a castrum, that is a fortified village, typical in the Languedoc during the lower Middle Ages.
