Certain geography teachers have undertaken a renewal of classroom activities based on the production, by pupils, of map sketching. Research, carried out by the INRP, demonstrates that these innovating practices, in their link to the scientific study of spatial analysis, possess their own logic wich is in keeping with teachers expectations and with the demands of diciplmary logic. Even if defining the logic which lies behind the acquisition of knowledge and learning means a significant break with educational tradition, changing the logic of teaching itself would seem more problematic. This reseach relies upon the perfecting of conceptual and methodological techniques wich are relevant to the pedagogical and disciplinary demands of geography....
