As far as studies in archeology, geography, economy and sociology are concerned in Oceania, there is often a confusion between two definitions of mobility. As a matter of fact, mobility could account for migration as a definitive déplacement of a population from one place to an other. It could also be understood as a periplus or a path where path is defined in reference to a point of return, even a symbolic return. Actual confusion stems from the fact that studies on historical and today's pattern in Oceania are focussing on mobility as a synonym of migration whereas an other type of mobility is still going on.
