Between Notre-Dame de Paris and Chartres : the portal at Longpont-sur-Orge (ca. 1235), by Iliana Kasarska. The portal of the former Cluniac priory of Longpont-sur-Orge (Essonne), although damaged and only slightly restored, is an important witness to the sculpture of the second quarter of the thirteenth century. An archeological, iconographic and formal study illustrates its originality and its close relationship to the west façade of Notre-Dame de Paris, where the influence of the Marian programme in the portal of the Crowning of the Virgin is discussed in detail. Furthermore, and this is new, Longpont reemploys the principal structural apparatus of the Saint Anne portal. The dominant style refers to the sculptures on the transept porches...
