This study, Change and Continuity in Peri-urban Australia, aims to help redress the relative lack of attention given to peri-urban regions in Australia and to contribute to a growing international literature on these areas. The monograph takes the form of a review of international peri-urban literature and experience. It analyses research, identifies issues to inform the later project work and examines governance, sectoral and cross-sectoral issues, policy and institutional responses. It provides an extensive conceptual review and analysis of peri-urban regions and proposes a combined structural and functional approach as its methodology.
