Changes in the territorial pattern of France's electronics industry. — The organisation of production in high technology industries has gone through three major breaks in the last decade: (a) a change in the "production pattern" with technology now at the heart of production processes; (b) transnationalisation; (c) a reversal in the hierarchy of forces between the State and large firms, to the advantage of the latter. Such widespread breaks are obvious in the sector of electronics. They are causing a complete upheaval in France's production system, hitherto characterised by the spatial and functional fragmentation of production and which, as a consequence, is now ill adapted to a context of world- wide competition.L'organisation de la production dans les industries de haute technologie a connu trois ruptures majeures au cours de la décennie écoulée: le changement de «schéma de production», qui a placé la technologie au cœur des processus productifs; la transnationalisation; un renversement des rapports de force entre les États et les grandes firmes, au bénéfice de ces dernières. Ces ruptures généralisées sont manifestes dans l'électronique.
