Culture is here defined as that which gives a meaning to the world, by way of hierarchizing facts, Le. establishing coherent systems of significations. A certain distanciation (in space or time) is necessary to grasp the logic of such systems; and this definition relies on an analogical concatenation of facts pertaining to different orders.
