Spatial Justice and the State. The example of the USA. — For every region of the United States, there is a gap more or less pronounced, between the income (taxes) of the Federal state and its expenditure (welfare, subsidies, orders given to industry, the wages bill for the military and civil servants, etc.). "Peripheral growth" is helped by the more dynamic regions (North-East) thanks to the arbitration given in its favour by the Federal State. The latter favours spatial justice, essentially . through the means of welfare and of the military- industrial complex.
