Specific characteristics of agricultural families in France. In agriculture, families can hardly be dissociated from their activity. In agricultural surveys, the definition of the family group comes from that of the farming activity, as if acknowledging its double functional role as production unit as well as residential unit. Thus, the characteristics of agricultural families give information on the working conditions relative to the agricultural activity itself. Various types of families correspond to the various types of farming units.
