The sociolinguistic situation in Moselle between World War I and World War II is a multiethnic situation. At the time, several languages - mainly "francique" (the local German dialect), German and various immigrants' native languages - co-existed with French, which was not dominant. The present study deals with Mosellan popular culture and the high degree of multilingualism of Mosellans of all origins.
