The self-proclaimed "Turkish Republican of Northern Cyprus" can be described not only (and indeed less and less?) as a "land of colonisation". This term refers to unilateral movements of populations effecting lasting implantations; it is too restrictive and fixed. Nor can it be described only as a "simple" land of "emigration" as towards Turkey, the UK or Australia). In fact, considering the movements of workers, of tourists and of businessmen, it appears that Cyprus has various fields and networks of migration which are deployed at different levels of time and space.
