The planning of the underground works of the Augusteum in Nimes discovered during the 18th century and which were believed to be destroyed, had up to now never been thoroughly studied. This study which belongs to larger ones concerning water in ancient times in Nimes was begun in 1991 with the speleological exploration NEMAUSA XII. From the results of this study, it appears that nothing was left to chance in this significant sanctuary where water, daily controlled and given as a show with the use of peculiar hydraulic techniques, emphasized the sacred character of the site and at the same time very likely helped for the imperial propaganda.Les aménagements souterrains de l'Augusteum mis au jour au XVIIIe siècle et que l'on croyait détruits,...
