This article présents a tentative study, constituting a first approach to mural painting during the Roman era in Nîmes. Based on the study of previous findings and recent discoveries dated at excavation sites, it provides a glimpse into the kinds of mural décorations designed during the first two centuries of our era. The site known as "the Gardens of the Emperor" contained a painting from the second generation of the second provincial style, which direct dating places, at the very latest, at the beginning of the lstcentury. It depicts imaginary architectural structures on vermillon panels, various imitations of marble and thin-shaped consoles.
