At the beginning of the 19th century, power in the Vietnamese Communes of the Red River delta relied on a domination mechanism based on the capacity to distribute lands : both poor and rich peasant owners could be in charge of the politico-administrative affairs of the village. But how can we define the correlation between possession and authority on the peripheral area of the delta lowland ? In the forest area of the Tam Đào Mountain, the analysis of the land registers of 1805 and 1835 suggests a different interrelationship between local agents and modes of land distribution.
