Les transports routiers dans le Morbihan entre les deux guerres

The railway triomphed at the beginning of the 2Oth century as it had become a means of transport no one could do without. But it was an unproductive System because being a public service, the operating of the railway was not meant to be profitable. The motor car became increasingly popular after World War one and so found a favorable ground for further development: the car was to become a keen competitor to the railway. The public sector had to interfer in order to prevent the irreparable decline of the transport by rail. The example of the Morbihan shows very well the immense expansion of the motor car between the two World Wars.Le chemin de fer, devenu moyen de transport incontournable, triomphe au début du XXe siècle. La diffusion de l'automobile s'est rapidement accentuéeaprès la Première guerre mondiale, et a trouvé un terrain favorable à son développement : l'auto allait devenir un rival redoutable pour le chemin de fer. Les pouvoirs publics sont obligés d'intervenir pour tenter de prévenir l'irrémédiable déclin du transport par voie ferrée.
