Walter, The inscriptions upon liturgical rolls in Byzantine apse decoration. — The authors present a list of the Incipits of all the liturgical texts which they have noted, inscribed upon the rolls held by bishops painted in Byzantine apses. They add a list of forty-two churches, indicating, for the most part after personal observation, the names of the bishops represented and which text is inscribed on their rolls. They distinguish two principles governing the choice of texts : either a synthetic presentation of the liturgy or the dogma of the real presence of Christ in the consecrated species.Babić Gordana, Walter Christopher.
