Ten years after publishing a paper on the circulation of Enlightment and written culture in Spain during the second half of the XVIIIth century, it would seem useful to revise some of the statements appearing there. Thus, after a series of considerations on the direct and indirect evidences of the process of literacy, in this work some of the general conclusions drawn from the studies accomplished during the last years about the evolution of mastership and quality of signatures in this period have been commented on.
