Crossborder movements and new international migration trends in Romania What are the relations between borders and international immigration in the context of the bigger European Union? By focusing on movements toward Romania, it is shown that, even as classical borders are gradually disappearing under certain conditions, they are cropping up in new places and with new characteristics. The contemporary reshaping of borders can be seen in the ways they are put to use. The many ways of crossing a border, specifically by Moldavian migrants into Romania, are examined.
