External trade of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe with countries of the European Community, EFTA and the Mediterranean basin. This article begins with a look at the nature and development, in the period 1970- 1992, of the trade of each of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe with the twelve countries of the EEC, with the five principal member countries of EFTA - Austria, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland - and six countries of the Mediterranean basin - Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey. This is followed by a table of the regional trade of each of the EEC countries, based on indices for the comparative rate of their bilateral trade.
