Economie Theory and Economie Reform in Czechoslovakia. In this paper, economic theory is seen as a part of social self-reflection, i.e. a part of the model which society constructs about itself, and uses as a guide in its own maintenance and (trans)formation. The assumptions about the nature of social dynamics form an important aspect of the model. In the immediate postwar years, the "Czechoslovak road to socialism" was understood as a gradual and continuous development of "progressive national traditions". In the late 1940s and early 1950s, this idea was replaced by a policy (rather than idea) of a break with domestic traditions and transplanting of Soviet institutions and taking over Soviet experience.
