Rates of Exchange and Parity of Purchasing Power : Recent Developments in the Comecon Countries. The arbitary fixing of exchange rates and the over-valuation of socialist currencies are often looked upon as a self-evident fact, a constant in the economic context. But comparative studies of rates of exchange and parity of purchasing power particularly the International Comparison Project of the United Nations reveal a more complex reality.
