Suicide in Poland. , This study concerns successful suicides, declared and confirmed by medical and legal authorities over the past twenty years. It is a sociological inquiry covering the whole phenomenon, from the dynamic point of view in function of the most recent data. The number of successful suicides increased during the period under consideration from 1 310 to 3 912, a growth of 240 % for a population of 100 000. It is noteworthy that suicides have doubled in the cities and tripled in the rural areas. The age for suicide is significanthy lower, namely in the youngest age group (10-14 years) where it is four times higher (three times for the 15-19 years).
