Seven children were videotaped interacting with their deaf parents under feeding, bathing, and playing conditions from the age of 25 days to 16 months. Parents use a range of communication modalities including sign, voice, fingerspelling, and touch. From the beginning deaf parents and their children have an interactive relationship that is relaxed, natural, and effective.
