The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether the selection of play partners by aggressive children is related to their social status in the peer group. A total of 646 third-through fifth-grade boys participated in the study. Peer nominations were used to identify three types of dyads based on a reciprocal selection, a unilateral selection and a mutual non selection. These dyads were compared with respect to the degree of within dyad similarity on agression (i.e. peer, teacher and parent assessments) and attitude towards aggression (i.e. self-assessment).
