In this preliminary study, the accent has been placed on the possibility of detecting different types of relief forms in the littoral marshes, by means of infra-red aerial photographs. This research is often hampered by the presence of vegetation. It is possible to overcome this difficulty by analysing the types of zones of equal density which appear on the photographs ; the shape and structure of these zones allow us to record numerous phenomena often practically invisible on the ground.
